Texas System of Care

I was the marketing communications lead on the Texas System of Care initiative, when I worked at The University of Texas at Austin, Center for Social Work Research. The goal was to ensure all Texas children and youth have access to high quality mental health care by expanding the system of care approach.

I was a one-person communications shop, so I took on a wide, disparate range of activities including web design and development, graphic design and layout, writing, editing, social media management and email marketing. This mix required me to be technical, efficient and resourceful, while maintaining the ability to provide creative direction and new ideas. I also helped team members on a wide range of requests and projects and enjoyed helping to advance the overall mission in that way.

Highlights included:

  • Wrote the marketing plan, which won a gold Excellence in Community Communications Outreach (ECCO) award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

  • Developed the messaging and identity for Texas System of Care.

  • Implemented many communications initiatives, including an email marketing program, an initiative website, social media sites, brochures, presentations.

  • Filmed, edited and launched a series of video interviews called Voices for Children’s Mental Health.
